Due to the natural tendency of wood to expand or contract with varying humidity conditions, we have purposely left a 1/4” step on the wood handles. This step increases the diameter of the handle to ensure a tight fit to the fork socket. 1. Insert the handle into the fork head socket carefully to match the hole in the handle (A) with the hole in the socket (B). Aluminum handles: the fork head will be loose on the aluminum handle until all the hardware is tightened down all the way. Go to Step 5. 2. Wood handles: When the handle has been inserted and centered in the fork head socket you should be able to see about 1/4” of the hole. NOTE: Make sure the hole is centered. 3. While holding the top end of the handle just under the fork head socket at point (D), in a downward motion, gently tap the bottom end of the handle onto a hard surface to force the remainder of the handle into the fork head socket. 4. If the holes haven’t centered, hold the handle with the fork head pointing down and alternate light taps at point (E) until the fork head comes free, then repeat steps 1, 2, and 3. 5. Insert nut into fork head first with the nylon side facing out. Insert screw through the fork head. 6. Using a medium to large tip Phillips Screwdriver, fully tighten the screw until the nut is secure against the handle surface and there is no looseness between the handle and fork head. The aluminum handle may require additional tightening.
